Review: As far as I can tell, this is just a re-skinned version of a cereal I found at Sam's Club last year - Trix Fireworks. The thing with Sam's Club is that they sell all their cereals in double pack boxes, so sometimes they have products that you won't find anywhere else (which I think is annoying, because it's not one of my favorite places to shop). So I'm guessing Trix Firecracker is just the version of Trix Fireworks that General Mills gives to all the other retailers (but I could be wrong). And you know, I think I might like the blue box better. Regardless, there are no surprises here. This is just red and blue swirled puffs of Trix, with white starburst-shaped marshmallows. One thing I'll note is that, after finally having fruit-shaped Trix again, I think the puffs hold less fruity flavor. Maybe that's why they're not as popular.

Red & Blue Krispies

Review: I assume this cereal tastes exactly like regular Rice Krispies, just with some of the Krispies turned red or blue. Which is admittedly a good idea. Think of the different colors and color combinations they could use for a variety of purposes? But wow. This cereal is so bland. It's like eating plain, unseasoned rice. I will be using the rest of this box (mixed with butter and marshmallow, of course) to make Rice Krispies Treats for sure. I couldn't even finish eating the bowl I'd poured (and frankly, that's a first for me - I had to go wash my mouth out with some Chocolate Toast Crunch). I'm surprised this cereal has such a fun popping effect, because otherwise, I could totally see this porridge being the product Kellogg originally invented, as the legend goes, to dull the passions of asylum inmates...

Review: The cynical side of me wants to say that this is just another version of Trix with marshmallows. But that's probably because this isn't the first one I've had, recently. I actually really like the idea for this one, and although Red, White & Blue Crunch is my preferred 4th of July cereal, I'm excited to see another one on the shelves. The puffs are swirled with red and blue (actually, more like purple), and the white marshmallows form starbursts reminiscent of fireworks (although they're not as perfect as they look on the box). Part of me thinks the fireworks would look great in different colors, but then you'd lose the "red, white & blue" aesthetic. I'll give Trix points for a great idea with this cereal, but, not being my favorite fruity cereal on the market, I'm not gonna say that I love eating it.

Red, White & Blue Crunch

Review: Unlike the other holiday varieties of Cap'n Crunch which take after Crunch Berries, I suspect that this cereal - which has no yellow crunch pieces and boasts "red, white & blue berries" (now in "new star shapes") - is more akin to Oops! All Berries. Which is still not a bad thing. In fact, the berries are my favorite part of the cereal, so I think I might like this variety (which I have also seen marketed as "Hero Crunch") even better than Christmas Crunch (although Halloween Crunch's milk-changing ghosts are still a lot of fun). Either way, it's a great choice of cereal to have on the morning of the 4th of July!
